Documents we accept
Which identity documents and proof of address Fundly accepts, how to photograph them, and what slows verification down.
Verification is done in the Fundly web app and takes most people a few minutes. This page lists what you need and how to avoid the common reasons for a retry.
Identity documents
You need one government-issued photo ID that is valid (not expired).
| Document | Accepted |
|---|---|
| Passport | Yes, all countries we support |
| National ID card | Yes, where the card has a photo and a machine-readable zone |
| Residence permit | Yes, for the country you live in |
| Driving licence | Only in countries where our partner accepts it; the app tells you |
The name on your ID becomes the name on your account, your IBAN and your physical card. It must match exactly, including middle names as printed.
Live selfie
After your ID, the app asks for a short live selfie. It compares your face with the photo on your document and checks that a real person is present. Remove sunglasses and hats, face the camera, and follow the on-screen prompts.
Proof of address
Proof of address is required in some countries and for some limit levels. The app tells you if you need it. If asked, upload one document that shows your full name and current residential address and is dated within the last 3 months.
Accepted:
- Utility bill (electricity, gas, water, internet, landline)
- Statement from a bank or payment account
- Government letter, such as a tax or social security notice
- Rental contract signed within the last 3 months
Not accepted:
- Mobile phone bills
- Parcel labels or invoices from online shops
- Documents addressed to someone else, even a family member
How to take a good photo
- Place the document on a plain, dark surface.
- Use daylight or a bright room, with no flash and no glare on the surface.
- Fit all four corners in the frame. Do not cover any part with your fingers.
- Make sure the text is sharp. If you cannot read it, our system cannot either.
- For a PDF proof of address, upload the original file, not a photo of a screen.
What slows verification down
Most verifications finish within minutes. Some go to a manual review, which can take up to 2 business days. The usual causes:
- The ID is expired or the photo is blurry.
- The name you typed at sign-up differs from the name on the ID.
- The proof of address is older than 3 months or shows a different address.
- Your document is from a country we do not support yet. See Supported countries.
- You are on a shared or possibly matching sanctions or PEP list, which requires a human check.
Your data
Documents are processed by our verification provider and by [PARTNER], and are stored only as long as the law requires. See Terms and policies for details. If you have questions, use the in-app support chat.
