How a crypto IBAN account works
A real EUR IBAN, provided by a licensed partner, that you can fund by bank transfer or by sending crypto from any chain.
What an IBAN is
An IBAN is an International Bank Account Number. In Europe it is the address of an account inside the SEPA system, the network that moves euros between banks and licensed payment institutions in 36 countries. If someone wants to pay you in EUR, they ask for your IBAN.
What makes it a crypto IBAN account
A crypto IBAN account is an ordinary EUR account with one extra door. You can fund it by SEPA transfer like any account, and you can also fund it by sending crypto from your own wallet.
At Fundly, the crypto door works like this. You pick an asset and a chain in your dashboard. You send to your deposit address. Once the chain confirms, the deposit is converted to EUR at the rate shown before you sent it, and the EUR lands in your account. From there it behaves like any other euro: pay rent by transfer, spend it with the card, set a standing order.
Who holds the money
This is the question to ask any provider. Fundly is not a bank. The IBAN account is provided by [EMI / BANK PARTNER NAME], a licensed institution, and funds are safeguarded in line with its regulatory regime. The account is not covered by a deposit guarantee scheme unless the account terms say so. Crypto conversion is handled by our crypto-asset service partner. We publish who does what in the footer and in the security page.
SEPA and SEPA Instant
Standard SEPA transfers settle in one business day. SEPA Instant settles in seconds, at any hour, when both sides support it. Fundly accounts support both, in and out. Salary from an employer, an invoice from a client, rent to a landlord, all by IBAN.
What verification is needed
An IBAN account requires identity verification. That is a rule of the account partner and the regulators it answers to, not a Fundly choice. You upload a valid ID and, where required, a proof of address. Most people are done in a few minutes.
You do not need to be a resident of an EU country. Fundly is built for freelancers, nomads and people whose local banks are slow, expensive or closed to them. Availability depends on your country, so check the supported list.
If you want to start before verifying, the Instant card is issued with email and phone only, with limits. The IBAN is added when you verify.
What it costs
SEPA transfers in are free. Crypto deposits cost 1% on Free (min 1 EUR), 0.5% on Plus (7.99 EUR a month) and 0% on Premium (19.99 EUR a month). There is no hidden spread on conversion. Full details are on the pricing page.
What a crypto IBAN account is not
It is not a place where your EUR sits as crypto. Deposits are converted on arrival. It is not an exchange; you cannot trade in it. And it is not a bank account in the legal sense, because Fundly is not a bank. It is an account with an IBAN, provided by a licensed partner, that you can fund from a wallet.
Who it is for
- Freelancers paid in USDT or USDC who need to pay EUR bills.
- Nomads who cannot open a local account without residency.
- Anyone whose home bank blocks or delays crypto-linked inflows.
If that sounds like you, the accounts page has the details.
