Deposit Bitcoin

How to fund your Fundly account with BTC on the Bitcoin network, including confirmations, timing, fees and common mistakes.

Bitcoin is the original crypto network. It is slower than the other chains Fundly supports, but it is the most widely held asset, so many people fund their first card with it. If you want faster and cheaper BTC deposits, see Lightning.

Assets you can deposit

At launch, Fundly accepts native BTC on the Bitcoin network only.

Warning
Wrapped versions of Bitcoin such as WBTC, BTCB and cbBTC are not BTC. They live on other chains and are not accepted at launch. Sending them to your Bitcoin address will not work.

How to deposit

  1. Sign in to the Fundly web app at app.fundly.xyz and choose Deposit.
  2. Choose Bitcoin as the chain and BTC as the asset.
  3. Copy your deposit address or scan the QR code. Fundly issues native SegWit addresses that start with bc1q.
  4. In your wallet or exchange, choose the Bitcoin (BTC) network. Do not pick Lightning, BNB Chain or any other option.
  5. Paste the address, check the first and last characters, and send.
  6. Wait for confirmations. The app shows the deposit as pending as soon as it is seen in the mempool, then credits it after 2 confirmations.

Your address is unique to you and can be reused for future deposits. No memo or tag is needed.

Confirmations and timing

Bitcoin blocks arrive roughly every 10 minutes, so timing depends on how quickly your transaction is included.

Once credited, the BTC is converted to your account currency (USD or EUR) at the rate shown in the app before you sent it.

Fees

Two fees apply:

  • Network fee, paid by you to Bitcoin miners. It depends on mempool congestion, not on the amount. Your wallet sets it.
  • Fundly deposit fee, taken at conversion. At launch this is 1% (minimum 1 EUR) on Free, 0.5% on Plus and 0% on Premium. See the fee schedule.
Tip
If the network is busy, wait for a quieter time (often weekends) or use Lightning, which settles in seconds with almost no fee.

Common mistakes

  • Low fee, stuck transaction. A transaction sent with a low fee can sit unconfirmed for hours or days. Fundly treats replace-by-fee (RBF) transactions as unconfirmed until they confirm. If your wallet supports RBF or CPFP, you can bump the fee.
  • Sending on the wrong network. Exchanges often list "BTC (BEP20)" or similar. Those are wrapped tokens on other chains and will not reach your Bitcoin address. Choose the plain Bitcoin network.
  • Paying a Lightning invoice with on-chain BTC. Lightning invoices start with lnbc and are not addresses. On-chain BTC cannot be sent to them.
  • Below the minimum. Deposits under 20 EUR equivalent are not credited automatically. Support can recover them for a fee.
  • Address typos. A bc1q address is checksummed, so most wallets reject typos, but always verify the first and last four characters.

Fundly is a financial technology company, not a bank. Limits and fees described as “at launch” are proposals and may change.
